Eagles Buzz: Defensive captain could get poached and join Christian Parker in Dallas
The Philadelphia eagles have a ton of question marks heading into the 2026 offseason. The biggest one, offensive coordinator, has been addressed, but now we have Vic Fangio retirement rumors, the AJ Brown situation, and now, Eagles defensive free agents possibly switching sides to join Christian Parker in Dallas.
Parker is now the defensive coordinator for the bad guys and he’ll obviously want to install his system as efficiently as possible. In doing so, bringing in players who are familiar with his concepts will be key, and that’s where Reed Blankenship comes in.
Blogging The Boys dropped this idea over the weekend, and from their perspective, it makes a ton of sense.
On the Eagles safety possibly joining the Cowboys:
“Blankenship has gone from an undrafted free agent to a three-year starter and captain with the Eagles in a short amount of time. He’s a film junkie and has been lauded by his teammates and coaches for his attention to detail and willingness to mentor his teammates. In him, it’s almost as if there’s another coach on the field to turn to if/when needed.“
Blankenship being gone this offseason feels like a foregone conclusion. Yes, he’s a captain and he helped steady the defensive backfield during his time here, but he’s not a difference maker.
He’s a great piece to have, don’t get me wrong. The problem comes when you look at how many players the Eagles will have to pay over the next two offseasons. Jalen Carter. Quinyon Mitchell. Cooper DeJean. Just to name a few.
All three project as All-Pro caliber players. You prioritize that kind of talent over a steady starter every single time.
If Blankenship ends up in Dallas, so be it. I won’t lose sleep over it.
