Eagles Buzz: Multiple sources say Lane Johnson will return in 2026

One of the biggest storylines surrounding the Eagles this offseason is the future of All-Pro tackle Lane Johnson.

He’s been flirting with retirement for a few years now. Coming off an injury-riddled 2025 season and at 35 years old, walking away would make total sense. Nobody would blame him. What else is left to prove? He’s a two-time Super Bowl champ, five-time All-Pro, and a surefire Hall of Famer.

But despite all of that, it sounds like we’re getting one more run. Multiple sources, most notably Adam Schefter and LeSean McCoy, have indicated that Lane plans to return in 2026.

One final hoorah. And honestly, the Eagles couldn’t ask for a better outcome.

Adam Schefter on 97.5 The Fanatic talking about Lane Johnson’s future:

“I do expect that Lane Johnson will be back. I have heard the Landon Dickerson conversation [on potential retirement], I don’t know how real it is or isn’t; but I’d be surprised if Lane Johnson isn’t back, I don‘t know as much about Landon Dickerson.”

Then we have Shady, who was adamant on Johnson coming back this season. Here’s what he had to say on the most recent episode of SPEAKEASY.

McCoy on the future of this all-time Eagles great:

“Lane Johnson ain’t going nowhere. I talked to Lane. He ain’t going nowhere. He ain’t going nowhere.”

I never really pinned Lane Johnson as a guy who would walk away after such a disappointing season. He’ll be back and the Eagles are going to run it back on the road to another Super Bowl.
