NovaCare No More: Eagles rename practice facility Jefferson Health Training Complex

The NovaCare Complex is dead. Long live the Jefferson Health Training Complex.

The Eagles announced this week that their South Philadelphia practice facility is officially being renamed as part of an expanded, multi-year partnership with Jefferson Health and Select Medical under the NovaCare Rehabilitation brand.

After more than two decades of calling it NovaCare, the Birds are slapping a new corporate logo on the building and moving forward with the Jefferson Health Training Complex.

RIP NovaCare Complex

This is modern sports business in a nutshell. Everything has a price. Everything has a sponsor. If there is a flat surface in the NFL, someone is buying naming rights to it.

Jefferson Health now gets the headline billing on the building and will continue serving as the patch sponsor on the team’s practice jerseys. NovaCare Rehabilitation remains the Official Physical Therapy Partner, so while the name on the front changes, the rehab relationship behind the scenes stays intact.

In their statement, the Eagles leaned heavily into the community angle, highlighting health education, screenings, preventive care awareness, and partnerships tied to initiatives like the Eagles Autism Foundation and the annual Crucial Catch game.

Don Smolenski called it a “defining moment” in the partnership and emphasized shared values and regional impact across Greater Philadelphia, the Lehigh Valley, and South Jersey.

All of that may be true. It is also true that this is a business decision first.

The facility itself is not changing. It is still the same complex that has housed the team since 2001, complete with the weight room, cafeteria, practice fields, draft room, meeting spaces, and the site of training camp. The only thing different is what we call it.

For fans, this probably lands somewhere between indifference and mild nostalgia. NovaCare just sounded right. It was part of the rhythm of Eagles coverage for 20 plus years. Now it will take a season or two before “Jefferson Health Training Complex” rolls off the tongue without feeling like you are reading an ad.

But that is the NFL in 2026. Stadium names change. Patches get sewn on jerseys. Practice facilities get rebranded. As long as the product on the field remains elite, most people will shrug and move on.

Just do not be surprised if, five years from now, we are renaming it again.
