The dog that was abandoned at the Las Vegas Airport is now named JetBlue and has a forever home
JETBLUE UPDATE – Earlier this month a woman was trying to fly out of Las Vegas with her dog on a Monday night. In order to do that you need to fill out the proper documentation ahead of time. She had not done that. The airline denied her entry with the dog. So she left him at the ticket counter and walked to her gate.
Just left him there. At the airport. And walked away.
When officers tracked her down at the gate and asked what happened, her explanation was that it was fine because the dog has a tracking device. That was her answer. He has a tracking device so it is acceptable to abandon him at the airport.
Truly evil behavior. There is no other word for it.
She was arrested for animal abandonment and resisting arrest. The dog was placed in Animal Protective Services. She was given 10 days to reclaim him and did not show up. He was then transferred to a rescue facility where the staff named him JetBlue and started looking for his forever home.
The story went viral. The rescue received over 2,400 adoption applications. And eventually, one of the officers at the scene was approved to bring JetBlue into his family. The cop who found an abandoned dog at an airport is now that dog’s owner.
JetBlue has a forever home with the cop who found him
That is the ending this story deserved.
The idea of looking at a dog’s face and making the decision that woman made at that ticket counter is incomprehensible to me. There is a special place reserved for people who mistreat animals and this one earned a front row seat.
JetBlue is home. That is all that matters today.
