USA Hockey is on a heater in Miami and not even the depressing folks on social media can ruin it
USA Hockey rolled into E11EVEN nightclub in Miami last night and led the entire club in singing the national anthem. Gold medals around their necks, Mich Ultras in hand, dopamine absolutely off the charts. If there is a better victory lap in the history of American sports we have not seen it.

Then because this run has been completely unhinged from the start, USA Hockey is now getting a literal military extraction from Miami to Washington DC for the State of the Union address tonight.
Gold medal game Sunday morning. Rager in Miami on Monday night. State of the Union Tuesday. USA Hockey has been moving at an impossible pace since Jack Hughes scored that goal in overtime and they are not slowing down for anyone.
Now, because it is 2026, some people online decided the party needed to come with a political disclaimer. There was an awkward joke from the president during the celebration call. The guys laughed. And apparently that was enough for a certain corner of the internet to declare that Team USA had made a political statement by not stopping a gold medal celebration to deliver a lecture.
Give it a rest.
These are 20-something year old athletes running on adrenaline and six beers in thirteen minutes after winning the most important game of their lives. No one is making a political statement in that moment.
No one is endorsing anything.
They laughed at an awkward joke from the president of the country they just bled for, which, by the way, is a moment that would have been surreal regardless of who is sitting behind the Resolute Desk. Getting a congratulatory call from the president after winning Olympic gold is as American as it gets. Full stop.
Not to mention, Jack Hughes first thought after scoring the golden goal was Megan Keller’s overtime winner for the women’s team. The entire men’s team watched the women beat Canada earlier in the week. These are not complicated people to understand if you are actually paying attention.
Unfortunately, some people need everything to be a moral crisis.
No nuance, no situational awareness, no human element to anything. Just a binary decision about whether these guys passed a purity test during a gold medal party at a Miami nightclub.

If you genuinely think USA Hockey should have stopped everything in that moment to make a political stand, you are completely missing the point of what just happened and honestly you should probably log off and touch some grass.
The moment was unreal. Let it live.
