The Eagles continue to fill out their 2026 coaching staff, adding Allen Smith as their new assistant outside linebackers coach, per Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports.

Allen Smith spent the 2025 season as the defensive line coach at Army following a three-year run at Georgia State in the same role from 2022 through 2024. He does have NFL experience, having served as an assistant defensive line coach with the Houston Texans in 2021 under head coach David Culley and defensive coordinator Lovie Smith.

The hire comes as the Eagles work through some real defensive staff turnover this offseason. Christian Parker left to take the defensive coordinator job in Dallas.

Assistant linebackers coach Ronell Williams departed for the linebackers coach position in Las Vegas. Defensive assistant Tyler Yelk left to become safeties coach at Nebraska. Losing three defensive assistants in one offseason is significant, and filling those gaps with quality replacements matters.

The Eagles addressed the Parker vacancy by promoting Joe Kasper from safeties coach to defensive backs coach and defensive passing game coordinator, which is a significant elevation. Mike Pellegrino and Beyah Rasool have also reportedly been brought in as defensive assistants under Vic Fangio.

The offensive side of the staff is where the bigger changes are happening with new coordinator Sean Mannion coming in, and the Eagles have not yet announced their full coaching staff for 2026. Smith is one more piece falling into place as that process continues.
