Adam Schefter tells Pat McAfee the Eagles aren’t all that interested in moving on from AJ Brown
Adam Schefter said it plainly. “I don’t believe there’s a chance in hell that the Eagles would move AJ Brown unless it included a first round pick. Even then I don’t think they’re all that interested in moving on from him.”
That should be the end of this conversation. It will not be, but it should be.
Adam Schefter on AJ Brown:
I genuinely cannot figure out why we are still talking about this. Howie Roseman basically called trading AJ Brown ridiculous. Schefter just buried it again. The rumors have been shut down so many times at this point that writing about them feels like a personal failure.
Nothing about trading AJ Brown makes sense for the Eagles and the cap math alone should end the debate every single time it comes up.
Cap Talk: Here’s where the Eagles stand heading into NFL Free Agency
But since we are here, one more time for the people in the back.
A trade before June 1st would leave the Eagles holding $43.4 million in dead cap money in 2026. Forty-three million dollars for a player no longer on the roster.
That is not a typo.
The only way that number makes any sense is if the return is so overwhelmingly good that it rewrites the entire history of wide receiver trades. That has not happened.
A post-June 1st trade is a more manageable picture, saving $7 million in cap space while leaving $16.4 million in dead money this year with the rest carrying into 2027. If a trade ever actually happened, the timing would matter enormously.
No more AJ Brown trade talk! It is not happening. Schefter said so. Howie said so. The cap math says so. AJ Brown is an Eagle. Can we talk about something else now? Please. I beg.

WIP is somehow going to claim Adam Schefter doesn’t know what he’s talking about and that a trade is in the works. Crazy idea, why don’t you all just take over WIP? Perhaps you all could save Audacy in the process as well.
