Great Britain is already eliminated from the WBC and Jazz Chisholm rightfully getting roasted
Jazz Chisholm and Great Britain were eliminated from the World Baseball Classic on Sunday with a 7-4 loss to Italy, dropping to 0-3 in pool play after getting outscored 24-7 across their three games.
They are done. They were always going to be done because Great Britain had no business being in this tournament and everyone knew that before a single pitch was thrown. The problem for Jazz Chisholm is that he told everyone they were going to shock the world.
Jazz Chisholm expected Great Britain to shock the world
Jazz Chisholm served as Great Britain’s captain and came into the WBC talking like his team had a real shot. “Shock the world” were the exact words.
Look, I get it. Someone had to say something. Team morale needs to exist. You cannot walk into an international tournament as the captain and tell the media yeah, we have no chance, good luck to everyone else. He had to pump the tires somehow.
Great Britain didn’t shock anyone. Not even close.
So yeah, Jazz Chisholm, there had to be a better way than “shock the world” when your team turned out to be an obvious 0-3 elimination waiting to happen. Great Britain is dead, you went 2-for-13 with six strikeouts and one RBI and now the internet is absolutely roasting you into another dimension.
Gotta be better, brother. These memes are brutal and they are entirely self-inflicted.
Jazz Chisholm is getting destroyed on social media
Jazz Chisholm is entering the final year of his contract at $10.2 million and is going to want a massive payday in free agency next winter after a 30-30 season with the Yankees in 2025.
Starting his 2026 baseball year going 2-for-13 in the WBC while your team gets outscored by 17 runs total is not exactly the statement you want to make heading into a contract year.
Next time, Jazz, something like “we are going to compete and make everyone take us seriously” would have done just fine. Save “shock the world” for when you have the roster to back it up.
