Golden Age: USMNT Stars & Stripes Kits for the 2026 World Cup has me believing we might win it all

The USMNT officially unveiled their 2026 World Cup kits and I will be direct about this. These are probably the best jerseys America has ever worn across all of international sports and honestly, it’s not particularly close.

The Waldo stripes have officially made a comeback and these are even better than what we were asking for. Classic white with the crest. Red, white, and blue. Stars and stripes. That is all anyone ever wanted and somehow the execution exceeded the expectation.

The navy away kit with the faded stars is going directly into a shopping cart the second it drops. No hesitation.

The online reaction was genuinely shocking. Mixed reviews?

I will tell the soccer nerds right now that I’m going to be writing a lot about the World Cup over the next few months and I literally have zero idea what I’m talking about. I just love America and international competition so save your bullshit for someone else.

Soccer nerds are always gatekeeping the beautiful game. Mixed reviews for these jerseys? I do not know what is wrong with the soccer purists in this country but they need to get it together immediately.

Some of these people were actually complaining that the red stripes on the front of the jersey did not perfectly align with the stripes on the sleeves. That was a real complaint from real human beings about a World Cup kit that is being worn on home soil in a few months. Come on, man. These are perfect!

There is a proven fact in soccer that you need to be the best looking team to win the World Cup. Your country needs an iconic look that the entire soccer world recognizes instantly. We no longer look like a British knockoff and have a lick back with the World Cup being played on American soil.

That is not a coincidence.

Now everything is aligned. The golden generation talk has been building for years. The look is right. The stage is right. A home World Cup in the summer of 2026 is as good as it gets for this program.

Look, I get it. America does not give a collective damn about soccer in the general sense and everyone knows it. But international competition is different and this country has been on a run.

USA Hockey brought home gold. Team USA is in the World Baseball Classic final in Miami tonight looking to win the whole thing.

The USMNT is next in line. They speak of the golden age of American soccer and who knows. Maybe this is the summer we shock the world?

I will say this though. I still have real doubts about whether the World Cup actually happens as planned. Are we sure Iran is coming to the United States to play soccer in a few months? That situation is worth monitoring closely.

At the very least, the USMNT will look absolutely incredible doing whatever they end up doing this summer. The jerseys are perfect. God bless the United States of America. It’s time.
