Iowa drilled a three to beat Florida at the buzzer and yet again, we’re reminded why March is the greatest
Florida was up two with seconds left. All they had to do was not give up a three. The only way they lose is if someone hits a three. So naturally they let Iowa catch an inbound, get clean space, and find Alvaro Folgueiras wide open in the corner to drain one from deep with 3.9 seconds left on the clock.
The defense on that final possession was some of the worst you will ever see from a team that needed to prevent exactly one thing. Do not give up a three. That is the entire assignment. Instead Florida put a guy on the ball and played trail defense on an inbound in a two-point game with seconds left on the clock. It is nearly impossible to execute something that poorly when you know exactly what you are trying to prevent.

Alvaro Folgueiras hit the shot, Iowa wins, and then hops on the mic and drops an absolute heater of a quote about March Madness. It was something that will follow this tournament for the rest of the week.
Iowa’s Alvaro Folgueiras: “March is for dreamers”
That line is now everything. Folgueiras spoke about his mother after the game and what this moment meant to him and it was exactly what March Madness is supposed to produce.
You can complain all you want about the bracket and the scheduling and the NIL era changing everything. Then a moment like this happens on Sunday and you remember why none of that actually matters when the games tip off.
Yesterday people were complaining that the tournament was not delivering. St. Johns’ Dylan Darling hit a buzzer-beater, Iowa’s Alvaro Folgueiras hit a buzzer-beater to take down the one-seeded defending champs. March answered back the way it always does.
March is for dreamers. Always has been. Always will be.
