Dogs Escape Chinese Meat Factory

Legends: Seven dogs escaped a truck headed to a Chinese Meat Factory and walked over 10 miles home together

This story went from absolute nightmare to the greatest movie pitch Hollywood has ever been handed in about thirty seconds. Seven dogs, a German Shepherd, a Corgi, Golden Retrievers, Labs, and a Pekinese, were stolen by thieves working for a dog meat shop in Changchun, China, thrown into a truck, and were on their way to becoming someone’s dark and twisted lunch special.

They escaped from the truck. Then they walked over 10 miles (17 kilometers), over two days to get back home.

All seven of them. Together. As one unit. No dog left behind.

Check out this crew.

Through highways. Through fields. Past strangers trying to help them. Every Good Samaritan who approached got ignored. Some guy named Lu spotted them walking along a busy highway, described them as a band of little brothers in distress moving in unison, and tried to help multiple times.

The dogs wanted absolutely no part of his assistance. Which, given that a human had just tried to send them to a meat factory thirty minutes earlier, is completely justified. Fool me once.

The best part of this story is that these seven dogs all came from the same village. They knew each other. They played together regularly. So when they broke out of that truck it was not seven confused strays wandering aimlessly. It was a squad. Seven ride-or-dies who looked at the situation, understood the assignment, and collectively decided they were not ending up on a lunch menu.

The German Shepherd was injured during the escape. Did not matter. Still walked. Still led. That is Kobe hitting free throws on a torn Achilles energy from a dog who decided he would deal with the leg when he got home.

The Corgi deserves its own paragraph. That dog walked 10 miles on four-inch legs. Put some respect on that Corgi’s name immediately.

Volunteers tracked the pack through social media as their videos went viral across Chinese platforms. They made it. All seven dogs were safely reunited with their owners on March 18th, two days after escaping on March 16th.

Someone in Hollywood needs to option this story today. This is Homeward Bound if Homeward Bound had twice the dogs, actual life-or-death stakes, and a Corgi with the heart of a champion.

The injured alpha German Shepherd. The scrappy Corgi who has no business finishing this journey but refuses to quit. The Labs and Goldens providing emotional support. The Pekinese bringing pure chaotic energy to the whole operation.

This entire thing writes itself even for a lazy and washed-up Hollywood.

Also, China, what the hell? Kidnapping dogs and sending them to meat factories is genuinely deranged behavior. I always assumed most of these stories were propaganda but apparently not. Either way, full respect to this dog pack for linking up, breaking out, and finding their way home.

Absolute legends. Every single one of them.
