Devan Kaney OUT 94.1 WIP

Devan Kaney OUT at 94.1 WIP as cuts hit across all seven of Audacy’s Philadelphia stations

Devan Kaney has been let go from 94.1 WIP as part of a new round of layoffs by parent company Audacy.

Devan Kaney had been with the station since 2022, regularly co-hosting the morning show with Joe DeCamara and Jon Ritchie, and took over as the Eagles sideline reporter late in the 2024 season after Howard Eskin’s…. abrupt exit.

I could easily name 10 other people at 94.1 WIP that should have been cut loose beford DK. Genuinely thought she was solid in both roles, but not surprised in the slightest that Audacy and WIP screwed up another round of layoffs.

Devan Kaney is out at WIP

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Devan Kaney said she plans to stay in the market and will continue as weekend anchor at Fox 29. There is also a real possibility she returns for Eagles sideline duties next season since that role was separate from her WIP position. Fingers crossed that works out because she was good at it.

The cuts hit across all seven of Audacy’s Philadelphia stations including KYW, WPHT, WOGL, B101, BIG 98.1, and 96.5 WTDY in addition to WIP. The timing comes just over a week after Philadelphia market manager David Yadgaroff announced his retirement after 36 years with the company. Audacy also made cuts in Seattle and Cleveland on the same day.

As of right now Devan Kaney appears to be the only confirmed on-air WIP name in this round. The music and news stations seem to have been hit harder than the sports stations, which tracks with WIP historically being better insulated because it drives more revenue. That said it is still a developing story and more names could surface.

Losing Kaney is a genuine blow to the station because, well, everyone else sucks. I hope she gets to continue with her Eagles sideline coverage. She was just starting to build a pretty solid report down there. WIP will figure it out but this one stings.
