Harper and Realmuto go yard, Sosa and Crawford clutch up to get the Phillies back to .500 baseball
The Phillies desperately needed a win on Wednesday and they found one in the most Phillies way possible. To be clear, I don’t be desperately because the standings are tight or anything of the sort. It’s more along the lines of how awful and annoying social media becomes when this baseball club loses a game or two and yesterday, it looked like the result was going to be a bad one, until it wasn’t.
Down three runs in the seventh inning to the Nationals, they clawed back, tied it, and the rookie Justin Crawford end it in the 10th with a walk-off single to right that scored Brandon Marsh. Phillies win 6-5. Series won. Back to .500 at 3-3.
The Phillies trailed 5-1 heading in the 7th and had been largely invisible since Schwarber doubled home Trea Turner in the first inning. JT Realmuto crushed his first homer of the season to put the Phillies on the board in the seventh and get the comeback started.

Bryce Harper. Bottom of the 8th, down 3…
Harp stepped to the plate and went yard to pull the Phillies within two. His first home run of the season after one of the more frustrating starts of his career. He came in hitting .120 with a .425 OPS through his first six games and nothing was clicking.
Wednesday he hit a ball over the fence when the team needed it most. That is the version of Harper this lineup requires and hopefully this is the spark that gets him rolling.

Then in the bottom of the 9th Edmundo Sosa singled to left to score Trea Turner and Dylan Moore to tie the game and force extras. Crawford came up in the tenth and singled to right to score Brandon Marsh and put it away.
The Edmundo Sosa Clutch Up
Justin Crawford. Walk-off single in extras. The rookie center fielder is already delivering moments. Crawford couldn’t ask for a better start. He’s been to the dish 17 times over the first six games and has seven hits, and a walk-off RBI while scoring three runs. That’s good for a .412 AVG and a .915 OPS.Â
The Fightins won their series against the Nats after dropping opening festivities to the Rangers. They are now 3-3 heading into a travel day today before a road trip out west, starting with the Colorado Rockies on Friday.
