Sixers move back into sixth seed, head to San Antonio to begin final road trip Monday night

The Toronto Raptors lost today to the Boston Celtics and just like that, the Sixers are back in the sixth seed. The standings are moving every single day now and there are four games left to figure out where this thing lands.

The Sixers begin a three-game road trip in San Antonio against the Spurs Monday night at 8 PM ET from the Frost Bank Center. From there they go to Houston on Wednesday and Indiana on Thursday before closing the regular season at home on April 12th against the Milwaukee Bucks.

On the injury front Embiid is not listed on the report which is the only thing that really matters. He has missed two of the last three games between the oblique management situation and the illness drama but he is available tonight and the Sixers need him.

Sixers have Joel Embiid listed as healthy ahead of Wemby and the Spurs..

Johni Broome remains out after meniscus surgery and is done for the season. Cam Payne suffered a right hamstring strain in Saturday’s loss to the Pistons and is out for at least two weeks, which effectively ends his regular season.

San Antonio is 53-18 and one of the best teams in the Western Conference. This is a game the Sixers are not expected to win. They have to show up, compete, and not let a road loss on the second night of a back-to-back turn into something that costs them momentum heading into Houston and Indiana.

The games that actually matter are the Rockets on Wednesday and the Pacers on Thursday. Win both of those and come home to beat the Bucks on Sunday and the Sixers finish 46-36 with a comfortable sixth seed and a first-round matchup with the Knicks. That is the path. San Antonio is the appetizer.

Four games left. Back in the sixth. Embiid is available. Let’s go.
