FIFA World Cup Attempts to Ban Tailgating in American Cities

FIFA wants to ban tailgating at World Cup games, clearly forgets that Philly and America do not take orders from European tyrants

FIFA is the most corrupt sports organization on the face of the earth.

You want to talk about major corporations committing bribery, complex money laundering and racketeering schemes, paired with laundry lists of human rights abuses? Look no further. They do all of it, all while awarding their cute little World Cup tournament to countries that use slave labor to build the stadiums.

If you can name a crime, the degenerates running FIFA have committed it, profited from it, and faced zero consequences for it because they control the most popular sport in the world and that means they can do whatever they want to whoever they want indefinitely.

…until they come to THE United States of America

News broke this week that FIFA wants to “ban tailgating” at World Cup matches. The specific language in the match-day checklist says that traditional tailgating, defined as eating and drinking around parked cars, is not permitted. Fans are encouraged instead to enjoy activities within the secure areas or visit nearby businesses.

FIFA wants to ban tailgating before World Cup matches at major U.S. stadiums.

I want every person reading this to sit with that for a moment.

An international sports organization that has been indicted by the United States Department of Justice, that laundered tens of millions of dollars in bribes, that awarded a World Cup to Qatar in exchange for cash payments, is now telling American fans they cannot drink beers and grill hot dogs next to their car before a soccer game.

These are the same people. The audacity is genuinely breathtaking.

Philadelphia has six World Cup matches scheduled including a round of 16 game on July 4th. The 250th anniversary of American independence. While FIFA was busy writing their little rulebook on how Americans should act, the city of Philadelphia passed a bipartisan bill to keep bars open until 4 AM during the World Cup.

Republicans and Democrats in this city agreed on exactly one thing and that thing was making sure you can drink until 4 in the morning for a soccer tournament. The city is legislating more alcohol consumption and FIFA thinks they are going to ban tailgating.

This is not a fair fight. This is not even a fight. This is FIFA walking into a situation they have no ability to control and getting completely embarrassed.

Let me be very clear about what is going to happen in South Philly this summer. The full Philadelphia experience will be operating at maximum capacity for every single one of those six games regardless of what any rulebook from FIFA says.

FIFA doesn’t fundamentally understand about the United States of America.

We do not care about soccer the way the rest of the world does. We are hosting the World Cup this summer. It’s America250. Here in Philadelphia, we founded this country and have fought against European rule since the beginning of this great nation.

We are throwing the biggest America250 birthday party, we have the MLB All-Star Game happening in South Philly and overall we consistently throw the best parties on earth, not because we have been sitting around waiting for FIFA to come bless us with their presence.

Most Americans could not tell you who runs FIFA, what FIFA stands for, or what FIFA has done in the last decade and the ones who do know who runs FIFA and what they have done think those people should be in prison, which, to be fair, several of them have been.

The point is that FIFA operates on the assumption that the world will bend to their rules because the world needs soccer. America does not need soccer. America is doing America this summer and FIFA is a guest here, not the other way around.

FIFA thinks a statement is going to stop the tailgates? Good fucking luck. This is genuinely one of the funniest mismatches of institutional power in recent memory.

Washington’s troops ate RATS at Valley Forge so that Americans could one day eat overcooked brats in a parking lot before a sporting event.

I DIDN’T SAY MICE, I SAID RATTTTTSSSS

This country bled and died for the right to tailgate and FIFA is going to end it with a bullet point in a PDF. Print that rulebook out and we’ll tie it to fireworks and launch it right into the skies over the Delaware River.

1776. We do not take orders from Europe. We never have. We are not about to start for the World Cup this summer.
