Sixers win draft tiebreaker and officially own the No. 22 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft
Some actual good news for the Sixers for a change. The team won its first-round pick tiebreaker and officially owns the No. 22 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.
The pick originally belonged to Houston, went to OKC, and then came to Philadelphia as part of the Jared McCain trade. It won a tiebreaker over Cleveland’s pick to land at 22.
On the flip side, the Sixers are also sending the No. 17 overall pick to Oklahoma City to finally complete the 2020 Al Horford/Danny Green trade.
That deal is still costing this franchise assets six years later. The Al Horford contract continues to haunt from beyond the grave.
Sixers land No. 22 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft
In the middle of a first-round series where the Sixers just got their doors blown off by 32 points in Boston, knowing you have a first-round pick to work with this summer is a nice thing to have in the back pocket. Whether Daryl Morey uses it to draft or packages it in a trade, it’s an asset and this franchise needs every asset it can get right now.
More on the draft as it develops. For now, the Sixers need to worry about Game 2 tomorrow night before anyone starts looking at mock drafts.
