Pittsburgh F The Flyers NFL Draft

Pittsburgh fans chanting “F*ck the Flyers” at the NFL Draft while down 3-0 in the series is peak desperation

A “Fuck the Flyers” chant broke out in Pittsburgh ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft on Thursday night. Rece Davis called it “quite a scene” on the broadcast.

Sure. A scene. That’s one way to describe a city that hasn’t been relevant in any sport in nearly a decade screaming obscenities about a team that is about to sweep them out of the playoffs.

The series is 3-0. We are bringing the brooms out Saturday night in South Philly. The Penguins have been outscored 11-4 through three games.

Sidney Crosby has been invisible. Stuart Skinner has been a turnstile. Bryan Rust ran away from a fight and Pittsburgh’s response to all of this is to chant “Fuck the Flyers” at a football event in April.

That’s a city coping in real time.

The Flyers are living rent-free in Pittsburgh’s head right now and the Penguins haven’t even been competitive enough to justify the anger.

You’re not chanting that because you’re confident. You’re chanting that because you’re embarrassed. Your hockey team is about to get swept by a group of kids who weren’t supposed to make the playoffs and the only outlet you have left is yelling at a camera during the NFL Draft.

The Steelers haven’t won a playoff game since 2016. The Pirates haven’t won one since 2013. The Penguins are about to get swept in the first round and this is the city that wants to talk trash?

About what? The banners from a decade ago? The Cups that Crosby won when Porter Martone was in elementary school? Sit down. Your entire sports city is a museum exhibit and the Flyers are about to lock the doors on Saturday night.

Chant all you want, I guess.
