If you’ve read my Sixers stuff before, you’ll know I think the entire organization needs to be gutted from the top down, including Josh Harris and David Blitzer selling the team. But hey, this is a start.

Morey was just never the guy we were promised.

He was marketed as a genius, the NBA’s Howie Roseman, and the guy who was going to finish what Sam Hinkie started. None of that came to fruition. The 76ers never got out of the second-round under Morey. They never built a true championship contender under Morey. It was always one band-aid after the other.

He tried to star hunt, bringing in James Harden and Paul George. Neither worked. Then he continually recycled through players he had during his time in Houston, like PJ Tucker and Dwight Howard, both of whom were on their last legs when they got here.

It was just never going to work, and it making the move now was the only logical move to make. They still need to do a whole lot more here, but like I said, this is a step in the right direction.
