USA Today named Philadelphia the best NFL City in America, obviously
USA Today released their “Best NFL City” rankings and Philadelphia is number one. Does anyone actually give a shit what USA Today thinks about football cities? No. Absolutely not. USA Today is where your dad gets his news from the hotel lobby. Nobody is refreshing USA Today dot com for their NFL city power rankings but when they put Philadelphia at number one, I’m not going to argue with it.
We’ll take some positive national recognition for once considering every other media outlet in the country spends 90 percent of their time shitting on this city and its fans.
Number one. Best NFL city in America. As if anyone who has ever set foot in the South Philly Sports Complex on a Sunday needed a newspaper to tell them that.
GO BIRDS: Best NFL City in America
This is the city where the parking lots are packed at sunrise for an afternoon kickoff. Where 70,000 people lose their minds on a random Thursday in November against the Cowboys because hating Dallas isn’t a hobby, it’s a civic responsibility. Where opposing fans learn real quick that wearing the wrong jersey to the Linc is a decision that comes with consequences.
South Philly is where the tailgates are louder than most stadiums before the gates even open and when the Birds are on the road, Eagles fans takeover pretty much every stadium, in every city on the schedule, because this fanbase travels deeper and harder than anyone in professional football.
The Linc on gameday is a different animal. It’s not a fun family outing. It’s not a casual Sunday afternoon. It’s a full commitment from the moment you pull into the lot to the moment the final whistle blows. Every other NFL city wishes they had what Philadelphia has and most of them aren’t even close.
USA Today finally acknowledged what this city has known forever. Best NFL city in America. By a mile. Now if the rest of the national media could stop pretending otherwise for five minutes, that would be great.
Go Birds.
