AJ Brown trade framework reportedly in place between Eagles and Patriots

Albert Breer just poured gasoline on the AJ Brown trade rumors.

According to Breer, the Eagles and Patriots already have the framework in place for a deal that would send Brown to New England. His exact words were that there is a “very high likelihood” this happens, unless someone backs out.

So there it is.

I just want the AJ brown trade to happen already

The thing Eagles fans have been pretending was just offseason noise now sounds a lot more real. The details still need to be worked out, but Breer made it sound like the bones of the deal are already sitting on the table.

I’ve already done the mental grieving of losing AJ Brown multiple times now, I’m fine with it. Just rip the bandaid off already and let’s talk about actual football again.

The big piece appears to be a future first-round pick. Breer said the Eagles have wanted a first involved from the start, and that a potential Rams deal earlier this offseason would have centered around a 2028 first-rounder. If the Patriots are willing to go there, this probably gets done.

That would be brutal. Necessary, maybe. Defensible, depending on what else comes back. But still brutal.

AJ Brown is one of the best receivers in Eagles history. He helped change the entire offense the second he got here. He gave Jalen Hurts a real No. 1 weapon, bullied defensive backs, and produced like a star from the jump.

But all signs keep pointing in the same direction.

Brown has been tied to trade rumors for months. The Patriots have been sitting there the whole time. Mike Vrabel knows him. New England needs a real receiver. The Eagles need the return to make sense. This is no longer just internet smoke from bored NFL insiders in May.

If the Eagles are actually moving AJ Brown, they better get real value. A far-off first-round pick is a start, but it better not be the whole meal. Trading Brown is not some minor roster shuffle. It changes the offense, changes the Jalen Hurts conversation, and changes what this team looks like in 2026.

Maybe it works out. Maybe Howie Roseman flips the pick into something useful. Maybe the Eagles already know they are done dealing with whatever has been going on behind the scenes.

But right now, it mostly just feels like the Eagles are about to trade away an elite receiver to the Patriots.

That should never feel normal.
