Phillies fan flips off Juan Soto, Mets fans call us trash, and everyone just needs to relax

Video is making the rounds of a Phillies fan in a Halladay jersey standing up and flipping off Juan Soto with both hands during the Mets series this weekend and honestly I need both sides of this conversation to calm down.

This might come as a surprise but I really don’t care about the Phillies fan flipping off Juan Soto, for better or worse. Soto is irrelevant to me, just like the New York Mets. Sure, they beat us in the ‘yoffs a few years a go but outside of that, the Mets are pretty much overrated slop year in, and year out so what do I care?

That said, it’s really why I think this overly aggressive Phillies fan needs to relax. It’s not that big of a deal, brother. Juan Soto is standing there with his arms folded making you look like an idiot too. Not a single person in the crowd stood up to join you. You’re embarrassing yourself, the Phillies fans around you, and honestly, the entire city. Sit down and watch the game.

Literally nobody in the stadium cared, Soto definitely didn’t care, and the only thing the video accomplished was giving the internet something stupid to argue about on a weekend where Harper hit for the cycle and Schwarber hit four homers in two games.

It’s just weird behavior from a guy who let the moment get away from him and now his Halladay jersey is going viral for all the wrong reasons.

That said, watching Mets fans slither into the quote tweets calling Phillies fans a “trash fanbase” over one guy being a moron is genuinely hilarious coming from the city that just watched the Knicks fanbase riot through the playoffs, beat up Spurs fans across multiple rounds, and then trash New York City during the championship parade last weekend.

A Mets fan from NYC lecturing Philadelphia about fan behavior after that postseason is so hypocritical it’s almost performance art. Two birds from one bozo Phillies fan is not the end of the world. We’re all going to be okay. I promise.
