76ers are a Top-3 suitor for LeBron James, per Shams

The LeBron to 76ers chatter isn’t going to die any time soon. With each passing day, we hear more and more that LeBron is seriously considering coming to Philadelphia.

The latest scoop comes from none other than Shams Charania, who flat-out says the top-three teams in the running are Cleveland, Miami, and our Philadelphia 76ers.

The fact that we’re even this high up in the ‘hierarchy,’ as Shams puts it, is astounding in itself. The two other teams are obvious picks. LeBron has played in both markets and has won championships there, not to mention both have teams ready to compete for championships.

The Sixers top both of them in terms of championship readiness, it’s a bigger market than both, and it’s a whole new group of fans who could turn into LeBron sycophants.

Philly doesn’t have that many LeBron guys right now. You talk to anyone over 40, they think he’s a bum and still say Michael Jordan is the GOAT. The younger crowd seems more open to a LeBron signing, but even then, a lot of people in this city just love their team, not any single player.

It would be a fascinating dynamic, one I don’t think this city has ever really experienced. We’ve had plenty big-time players come here. Bryce Harper, Terrell Owens, James Harden, to name of a few. None of them come close to the stature of LeBron James.
