Phillies drop throwback uniforms for the Field of Dreams game
The Phillies released the uniforms they’ll be wearing for the MLB at Field of Dreams game against the Twins on August 13 in Dyersville, Iowa, and the throwback road grays inspired by the 1939-41 era are genuinely some of the best special-event uniforms the franchise has put out in years.
The gray road jersey features a red “Phillies” script that slants upward across the chest with a navy blue outline, red and navy blue striping around the collar and sleeves running down through the middle of the jersey and along the side of the gray pants, and a sleeve patch that’s a replica of the one the Phillies wore in 1939 commemorating what was believed at the time to be baseball’s 100th anniversary. The navy blue cap has a bold red “P” in the team’s historic font and navy blue socks complete the look.

The whole thing is clean and simple in the way that throwback uniforms should be because the best retro designs don’t try to modernize the look or add unnecessary details that the original never had.
They just faithfully recreate what the team wore during a specific era and let the vintage aesthetic speak for itself. The 1939 Phillies weren’t winning anything on the field but they looked good doing it and the 2026 Phillies wearing those same uniforms on a cornfield diamond in Iowa on a Wednesday night in August while being streamed on Netflix is the kind of baseball content that only the Field of Dreams game can produce.
The Twins are going with their original 1960s look featuring white jerseys with navy blue pinstripes, the classic “Twins” script across the chest with a red outline, and the famous Minnie and Paul sleeve patch that has been one of the most iconic logos in baseball history since the franchise moved to Minnesota.
The interlocking T and C on the navy blue cap is the cherry on top of a clean uniform set that pairs well with the Phillies’ 1939 throwbacks because both teams are leaning into their history rather than trying to create something new for the event.

The game is August 13 at 7:30 PM streaming live on Netflix.
The Phillies playing the Twins in a cornfield in Iowa wearing 1939 throwbacks while the trade deadline is 10 days behind them and the pennant race is heating up is going to be one of the more surreal experiences of the entire season because the Field of Dreams setting is unlike anything else in professional sports and the combination of vintage uniforms, a temporary ballpark carved out of a cornfield, and two teams in the middle of competitive seasons playing a real game that counts in the standings makes for appointment television regardless of how you feel about the gimmick.
