Honestly, I called LeBron James to the Sixers. The fit is perfect. I don’t give a shit about usage rates or any other stat that the haters are using to flood the timelines. LeBron James is perfect for Philadelphia and this current roster.
Every version of this team over the past decade was building toward this moment, even when it didn’t feel like it. Simmons. Fultz. Jimmy Butler. Tobias. Harden. Paul George. All of those experiments, all of that heartbreak, all of those rosters that got close and fell short, were part of one long pursuit to stack this team with as much talent as possible.
Now, all of the pain and suffer has delivered the ultimate payoff. LeBron James had his pick of every team in the league for the last stretch of his career, and he picked Philadelphia.
This is a fan base that was already among the most passionate in sports and is about to reach a level of insanity this city has never seen once he takes the floor. The roster, the winning, the fans, the legacy sitting right there for the taking, there’s no place that stacks up.
LeBron James wanted the version of the story where he does what nobody else could and ends a championship drought that’s stretched over 40 years in a city that would love him forever for it. That story only lives in one place, and he found it.
