LeBron James 97.5 The Fanatic

WATCH: 97.5 The Fanatic continues doing the Lord’s work by roasting 94.1 WIP over their embarrassing LeBron James ‘takes’

LeBron James is a member of the Philadelphia 76ers.

Thankfully, 97.5 The Fanatic continues to do the Lord’s work by taking shots at the other Philly sports talk station, 94.1 WIP, over their absolute clown show of a response to LeBron James signing with the Sixers.

This time it was Jon Marks calling out Rhea Hughes on the WIP Morning Show for flip-flopping on her LeBron takes, and honestly, it’s the kind of accountability that this city’s sports media desperately needs more of.

Hughes isn’t alone here. The entire station has been a mess over LeBron James because they have zero pulse on the city of Philadelphia.

They had no idea what to say when the recruitment was happening, no idea what to think when the signing became real, and now they’re scrambling to reposition themselves after getting the entire thing wrong.

Hughes went from being a “hater” during the whole process to suddenly praising the Sixers AFTER they landed him.

Shocker, right? Hardly. That’s the WIP special.

Say something dumb and contrarian to farm engagement, then quietly reverse course once reality makes you look foolish, and hope nobody notices.

Except people noticed, and Marks called it out.

Jon Marks & Sean Brace on LeBron James – The Age of Accountability

Spike Eskin posted a video trying to defend his awful LeBron James take and somehow made himself look even worse >>

That’s a win. No other way around it.

The best part of the whole thing was seeing the crew involved. There was a voice note from my guy Eric Fink, which is always a treat, and it’s great to see Sean Brace in the mix too. As many of you know, Sean Brace is a Day 1 Liberty Line guy, always has been, and watching him be part of this is exactly the kind of Philly sports media I want to support.

I don’t know Marks super well personally, but I’ve been a longtime listener dating all the way back to his first run on The Fanatic. The man knows what he’s doing, and calling out WIP for their nonsense is good stuff. This is what sports talk radio should sound like, real reactions from people who actually understand this city, not manufactured contrarian garbage designed to make fans miserable.

Side Note: Shoutout to my guy FINKYYYYYY

Shoutout to Eric Fink out there getting the boys riled up about LeBron. That’s Summer Fink for you. As someone who’s been in the trenches with “The Meat Man” on social media for the past six or seven years, I can honestly say that nobody deserves what’s happening with the Sixers more than us.

That’s the whole point of being a fan. You suffer through years of darkness, the tanking, the blown leads, the second-round exits, the Ben Simmons saga, all of it, and it only makes the payoff sweeter when you come out the other side with a healthy Joel Embiid, Jaylen Brown, and LeBron James.

It just means more when you’ve earned it, and we’ve earned it.

Marks and Brace Are What Philly Radio Should Be

You don’t have to like LeBron James but you have to at least be accountable and true to what you’re saying about him.

I’ve said this from the moment Sean Brace left iHeart Media: he should get the band back together and join Jon Marks on The Fanatic.

These two are exactly what Philadelphia sports talk radio is supposed to be. Real, honest, connected to the fanbase, and not afraid to have actual takes instead of the engagement-bait nonsense that WIP peddles every single day.

Miss me with whatever is happening over at 94.1 WIP. Marks and Brace taking shots at their competitors is the good stuff, and honestly? I think they’re being too soft on WIP.

They should be going even harder, because that station has spent years poisoning the Philly sports conversation with contrarian slop and manufactured outrage, and they deserve every bit of the smoke.

Keep roasting them, fellas. The Fanatic is doing the lords work, and we are better for it.

  1. I couldn’t thank them enough for what they’re doing in calling WIP out. WIP does more harm for this city’s sports rep then good and I’m beyond thankful there’s 94.1 to correct them.
