LISTEN: Phillies auction winner delivers a flawless performance on the radio broadcast

A Phillies fan who won an auction for the chance to call an inning on the team’s radio broadcast stepped up to the microphone and delivered a genuinely flawless performance, and honestly, it might have been the best thing to come out of a Phillies broadcast in a while.

Tell you what, Kevin Stocker’s days are numbered.

Kidding. Kind of. Either way, this guy was that good.

Let me be clear about something, because nobody is ever going to compete with the legends. Scott Franzke and Larry Andersen are untouchable, the gold standard, the best in the business, and no auction winner is coming for those two.

When it comes to the rest of the options in that booth? I could go with this fan as the next man up ten times out of ten. He was smooth, he was locked in, and he sounded like he’d been doing it for years.

Great stuff all around. That’s auction money extremely well spent, and a reminder that sometimes the fans could do it better than the guys getting paid. Give this man a headset and a contract.
