Philly will open both the preseason AND the regular season against the defending champion Knicks, the same team that swept them out of the playoffs last year in the second round and beat them twice in the preseason over in Abu Dhabi.

New York has been a thorn in Philly’s side at every level lately, so getting an early crack at them on October 5 is a fitting way to set the tone.

Two Jaylen Brown-Celtics reunions before the games even count, on October 10 and October 16. Brown won’t be back in Boston during the regular season until January 21.

Realistically, they won’t roll out their full-strength lineup much in October. Hard to imaging seeing much of LeBron or Embiid in the preseason but regardless, these four games are still our first glimpse of this reimagined roster.

Even a few minutes of the new core sharing the floor will be must-watch.

The preseason wraps October 16, and then it’s on to the real thing. The regular-season opener at Madison Square Garden on October 20, where the 76ers will have to watch the Knicks raise their banner before punching back.
