Eagles 53 man roster

Eagles set initial 53-man roster: Full position-by-position breakdown

The Eagles trimmed their roster to 53 players Sunday, hitting the NFL’s 6 p.m. deadline two weeks before the season opener against Washington on Sept. 13 at the Linc. This isn’t the final roster, teams can still add players through waivers starting Monday at 1 p.m., with priority order mirroring the draft (Las Vegas picks first).

Here’s the full breakdown.

Eagles quarterbacks and skill positions

Quarterback (4): Jalen Hurts, Andy Dalton, Tanner McKee, Cole Payton.

Keeping all four was the camp’s biggest roster question, and it means Roseman didn’t ship out a backup, a departure from his usual August trade activity.

Running back (3): Saquon Barkley, Tank Bigsby, Will Shipley.

Carson Steele and Dameon Pierce were among the cuts here.

Wide receiver (6): DeVonta Smith, Dontayvion Wicks, Makai Lemon, Hollywood Brown, Darius Cooper, Elijah Moore.

With AJ Brown now in New England, Smith steps into the true WR1 role for the first time since 2021.

Tight end (4): Dallas Goedert, Johnny Mundt, Eli Stowers, E.J. Jenkins.

Eagles offensive and defensive lines

Offensive line (10): Starters: Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens, Tyler Steen, Lane Johnson. Backups: Markel Bell, Fred Johnson, Drew Kendall, Willie Lampkin, Micah Morris.

The Eagles boast one of the deepest offensive lines in the NFL. If all goes according to plan, that depth won’t be needed, but as we learned last season, you can’t bet on that.

Defensive tackle (5): Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Moro Ojomo, Byron Young, Ty Robinson.

Again, one of the deepest groups in the league.

Edge rusher (5): Jonathan Greenard, Jalyx Hunt, Nolan Smith, Arnold Ebiketie, A.J. Epenesa.

Greenard was activated off PUP but hasn’t practiced since straining his pec before camp, he’s eligible Week 1 but not guaranteed to play.

Linebacker (4): Zack Baun, Jihaad Campbell, Jeremiah Trotter Jr., Smael Mondon Jr.

Eagles secondary and special teams

Cornerback (6): Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, Riq Woolen, Jonathan Jones, Kelee Ringo, Mac McWilliams.

Safety (3): Drew Mukuba, Marcus Epps, Michael Carter II.

Specialists (3): Jake Elliott (K), Braden Mann (P), Rocco Underwood (LS).

The Eagles waived both of their International Player Pathway players, DT Uar Bernard (Nigeria) and OLB Joshua Weru (Kenya). Neither had organized football experience before signing, and defensive coordinator Vic Fangio referred to the pair as “foreign exchange students.”
