Big Dom is under investigation because Emmanuel Acho couldn’t keep his mouth shut

Big Dom didn’t ask for any of this.

According to longtime Eagles insider Derrick Gunn, the NFL is still investigating Dom DiSandro, the Eagles’ senior advisor to the GM, director of game day coaching operations, and chief security officer, known to literally everyone in this city as Big Dom, over comments Emmanuel Acho made on his “Speakeasy” podcast back in early August. Acho never said a name. He didn’t have to. The internet connected the dots inside of five minutes.

The NFL is reportedly investigating Eagles security chief Dom DiSandro following claims made by Emmanuel Acho about a past car accident, per @GunnOnOne. Acho never named DiSandro or the Eagles, but speculation has linked Big Dom to the story. 👀

Let’s talk about what Acho actually said, because it’s the whole reason we’re here.

Acho told his podcast audience he rear-ended someone driving to practice during his playing days, called up a team security guy, and got instructions on how the accident could disappear. His words, not mine: send the first cop away, a second cop shows up, and suddenly it’s not your fault anymore. Acho played for three teams, the Browns, the Eagles, and the Giants, so he left it deliberately vague about which one bailed him out. Convenient.

Here’s the actual crime in this story, and it isn’t Big Dom’s.

Emmanuel Acho got away with hitting somebody’s car. He benefited from whatever happened that day. And instead of keeping that story in his pocket like a normal person, he brought it up on a podcast for content. For clicks. For a moment of relevance in a media landscape that forgot about him the second he stopped getting reps on a roster.

Big Dom didn’t leak this story. Big Dom didn’t go looking for attention. Big Dom has spent years being the guy who keeps Eagles players and coaches out of trouble and off TMZ. And his reward for allegedly doing his job a little too well one time is an NFL investigation, sparked by a guy who used the favor and then sold it for airtime years later.

Asante Samuel gets it. He went after Acho directly, calling him out for chasing attention and putting people’s careers at risk to stay relevant. Eagles fans piled on within minutes, throwing “snitch” and “dry snitching” at him, and asking the obvious question: why isn’t Acho the one under investigation for causing the accident in the first place?

Nobody is buying the “I never said a name” defense.

You don’t get to imply a security staffer bent the rules for you, refuse to name the team, and then act surprised when everybody does the math. Acho wanted this story to spread. He wanted his name attached to Big Dom’s. Mission accomplished, at the cost of somebody else’s job.

Big Dom deserved better than this

Big Dom has been a fixture on that sideline forever. He’s the guy escorting players off the field. He’s the guy standing next to Nick Sirianni in the tunnel. He’s the guy nobody in this city ever had a real problem with, until a former player with three team stops and a podcast decided his old favor was worth more as content than as a secret.

The Eagles open the season Sunday against the Commanders. That should be the story this week. Instead, Big Dom is fielding an NFL investigation because Emmanuel Acho couldn’t sit on a story that was never his to tell.

Attention-seeking. Self-serving. A snitch dressed up as a truth-teller.
