Landon Dickerson placed on IR, tells 94WIP he “played like shit” vs. Washington

Landon Dickerson, and the Eagles offensive line at large, have been the talk of the town following their Week 1 victory over Washington. Typically, that means the local and national media are showering the big fellas with praise. This time, it’s the complete opposite.

The offensive line played like shit on Sunday, no other way to put it. A position group that has legitimately been a top-5 unit in football for the better part of the past decade is finally starting to show some cracks, with Dickerson being at the fore front.

I’m sure you all saw the videos on social media too. It wasn’t pretty. Then we get to this afternoon, and it turns out Landon Dickerson was playing injured (as he typically does) and he’s now heading to IR, guaranteeing he’ll miss the next four games.

Just as the news was breaking, Dickerson made an appearance on 94WIP. To his credit, he didn’t sugar coat anything.

“To address the elephant in the room, I played like shit yesterday,” Dickerson said. “I was a complete liability. It was my fault. I should not be out there until I feel healthy. A few weeks ago, someone rolled up on me in practice. We got some imaging on it today. Really the best plan going forward is to put me on IR so I can have a good stretch at the back end of the season. I don’t think anybody wants to see that again. That was ugly. That was BS. This is not related to last season.”

Obviously, Dickerson should not have been out there on Sunday. It’s malpractice on the Eagles for even sending him to the field. Not only could he have injured himself even worse, he could’ve gotten Jalen Hurts or Saquon Barkley hurt. That kind of stuff just can’t happen. The Eagles are better than that.

Luckily, the Birds still won, Landon Dickerson seemingly didn’t severely injure himself further, and the franchise quarterback is healthy. All good things. And hopefully, this month off will get Dickerson back to full strength. At his peak, he’s one of the best guards in football. I’m rooting for him.
