Preview: We have a complete Philly takeover in Nashville ahead of Eagles vs Titans

The Eagles (1-0) are in Nashville to take on the Titans (0-1) at 1 p.m. Sunday, and let me tell you, the entire city of Philadelphia is here with them. The Liberty Line has been on the ground since Thursday morning with the one and only Phans of Philly, and Broadway has been an absolute sea of green 24 hours a day. It’s been a takeover in every sense of the word, and it’s exactly the kind of scene we knew it would be.

As always, Phans of Philly has every single thing scheduled and handled, which is a godsend for a group like us that could genuinely use the help. From start to finish, they’ve got it all planned out for their travelers, so all we have to do is show up and enjoy the ride, which we have certainly been doing.

If you’re on the fence about hitting an Eagles road game, this is the reminder that they make the whole thing effortless. Broadway in green, Eagles football, and none of the logistical headaches.

Eagles at Titans…

Let’s talk about the actual game, because the timing here is perfect. The schedule is about to get MUCH harder starting next week, with a brutal stretch against the Bears in Chicago, the Rams at the Linc, and the Jaguars in London. So drawing the lowly Titans in Week 2 is exactly what the doctor ordered. This is a game the Eagles should win, and honestly, they’d better win it comfortably before things tighten up.

Make no mistake, this is a bad Titans team. They opened the season with a two-touchdown home loss to a Jets team that hadn’t won a road game by two touchdowns in three years.

Let that one sink in.

The Titans are 9-36 over their last 45 games. This is a perfect opportunity for the Eagles to fix everything that didn’t click in the opener, from the pass rush and running game, to the pass protection, against a team they should flat-out dominate.

We need the Eagles to go Wire-to-Wire

I would call this a trap game if the Titans were a somewhat decent team, however that’s simply not the case here so the Eagles shouldn’t be playing with their food. You want to see them step on the throat of a bad opponent and put it away early because obviously, that’s what good teams do.

Again, I don’t think this one’s going to be close. The Titans just lost to the Jets by two scores and are coming off a three-win 2025, and I don’t see them being much better this year. Cam Ward is talented but hasn’t put it together, and while getting the No. 4 overall pick Carnell Tate in the building is nice for him, it’s not fixing this team overnight.

Their weapons aren’t great, and that offensive line might not hold up against the Eagles’ defensive front. I know, we said that last week too but this is another prime chance for the Eagles’ pass rush to finally get rolling.

The O-Line Matchup and the New Scheme

On the other side, the Eagles will have to help the interior against All-Pro Jeffery Simmons, but a healthy Drew Kendall gives them a much better shot than a clearly hampered Landon Dickerson did. As long as Simmons doesn’t wreck the game, the Eagles should be able to move the ball on the ground and through the air.

The new run scheme is heavily based on zone blocking and this o-line has previously been in a man-blocking scheme. It was disappointing in the opener, no doubt but there needs to be adjustments coming that will lead to some great runs and make the play-action game a genuine weapon.

A few game notes

The Eagles have never won in their three previous trips to Nashville, so there’s a small hurdle to clear there and it’s going to be a scorcher Sunday, with temperatures pushing near 100 degrees.

Thankfully, they’re facing a talent-deprived Titans team that just got run over by the Jets, so the conditions should matter less than the massive talent gap.

Handle Business, Look No Further

A huge Week 3 showdown with the Bears is looming, and the key this week is to not glance too far over the horizon. It’s about handling business against a Titans team that struggled mightily on both sides of the ball against the Jets.

Get in, take care of a bad team, get out 2-0, and get back to Broadway to celebrate.
