Seth Joyner calls out Spike Eskin over his Jalen Hurts hate & everyone in Philadelphia is loving it

Alright everyone, grab your favorite beverage, sit back, relax, and enjoy this one. This is a moment for all of us real ones. The real Eagles fans. The real Jalen Hurts fans for that matter.

Just when I told myself I was done reacting to or blogging about anything WIP related, I log onto Twitter for the night and see Seth Joyner busted the doors down at the Tasty Kake studios or whatever they call it over there anymore.

For context, Spike Eskin went on another one of his tired, Jalen Hurts rants, basically begging Philadelphia to “just be honest about what we see every week.”

Buddy, we are being honest. That’s the problem. Nobody is saying Jalen Hurts is going to win MVP because he beat Washington and Tennessee. Nobody is handing him the Super Bowl trophy in September. But can we please stop pretending we’re talking about some random quarterback who just showed up?

Because that is what guys like Joe Giglio, Spike Eskin, and which ever WIP plant you want to throw in there has done.

This is year 7!

Jalen Hurts has been here. He’s won a Super Bowl. He’s been to another Super Bowl. He’s won a Super Bowl MVP. He’s become one of the most accomplished quarterbacks in Eagles history. And yet every time he plays well, we get the same damn conversation.

“We’ll see. It’s only been two weeks. He doesn’t throw the ball enough. He has too much help.” Blah, blah, blah.

And this is exactly where our hero Seth Joyner hopped in the conversation and dunked on Spike Eskin.

My favorite part of the response? Mr. Joyner basically told Spike:

I don’t take victory laps. I give smoke where it’s deserved. And then he dropped the receipts. He pointed out that he’s criticized Hurts when Hurts deserved criticism. He just didn’t spend his entire existence trying to convince everyone the quarterback sucks.

That is the difference.

And while we’re at it, let’s add on top of what Seth Joyner tweeted because he speaks for all of us.

If Hurts started this season 0-2 and looked terrible, you KNOW we’d be hearing about it.

Every damn day. The phone lines would be open. Tanner McKee would somehow be trending. Somebody would be asking if the Eagles made a mistake.

But because Hurts is 2-0 and just led a game-winning touchdown drive against Tennessee, now everybody needs to calm down?

The Eagles Have A Damn Good Quarterback (probably best in the franchise’s history)

Here’s my thing. You don’t have to believe Jalen Hurts is the greatest quarterback alive.

You don’t even have to love everything about his game. Criticize him when he deserves it. That’s sports. But this constant need to find the next reason why Hurts isn’t good enough?

I’m exhausted, you’re exhausted, and even the rival station 97.5 is exhausted. Hell, they even started a “Club Hurts” for the real fans to gather and appreciate and discuss Jalen the right way.

At the end of the day, the only way to settle this is for Spike to man up and have a real debate with Seth Joyner.

But, I won’t be holding my breath. Jalen Hurts is already stamped. His legacy in this city, all the accomplishments on the field this early on. Now he’s just stacking his legacy. And anyone getting in the way of it or doubting him, are simply clowns.

I don’t know Spike personally. So, I can’t speak on who he actually is. But all I know is that somebody that is employed to talk about the Philadelphia Eagles full-time and spends it trying to tear down Jalen Hurts, shouldn’t be taken seriously.

Jalen is a role-model for millions of athletes and people all across the globe. And he is responsible for the current greatest era in Philadelphia Eagles football.

How soon have we all forgotten that he came into a 4-win team that was absolutely blown up. First-time head coach and an aging roster. Jalen immediately came in here and changed the culture for the better.

Sure, he had Howie Roseman and a few other all-time aging Eagles greats alongside him. But Jalen Hurts has been here the whole time and appears to only be getting better. Are we shocked?
