Report: Zach Ertz expected to be activated for Week 3 showdown against Chicago

The Philadelphia Eagles brought back Zach Ertz this week after losing Dallas Goedert to an MCL sprain in Week 2. According to Jeff McLane, despite just signing with the team a few days ago, Ertz will be activated from the practice squad for tonight’s contest in Chicago.

TE Zach Ertz is expected to be activated off the practice squad for the #Eagles-Bears game on Monday night, per NFL sources.

Ertz was signed on Tuesday after it was learned TE Dallas Goedert suffered an MCL knee sprain.

It’s hard to say how much Ertz will actually play tonight, but I’d guess he plays more than we expect.

The Eagles tight end room is baron without Goedert. Eli Stowers is on IR, which just leaves Johnny Mundt, who’s a solid blocker but offers little to nothing in the passing game. Ertz can provide at least a semblance of pass catching ability from the tight end spot, albeit at 35 years old and nine months removed from a devastating knee injury.

Depending on how the game unfolds, watch for Ertz to get involved early on, especially in red zone situations. I wouldn’t be shocked if he found his way to the end zone tonight.
