Philly is so fed up with the Phillies that they arrested the Phanatic in Fishtown
The fellas over at Word to the Wise posted a video on Instagram of the Phillie Phanatic getting arrested in Fishtown, and honestly, it’s the most accurate representation of how this city feels about the Phillies right now.
Yes, it went up a few days before the Braves bounced them from the Wild Card Series, so the timing doesn’t totally line up. I don’t care. After the way this season ended, watching the Phanatic get hauled off in cuffs hits just right.
Phillie Phanatic Arrested in Fishtown
Personally, I would have arrested Dave Dombrowski
There’s also a few jokes to be had that the Phanatic was arrested by ICE but last time we made those jokes, we basically got shadow-banned across social media so I’ll leave that one alone. Either way, somebody has to answer for this season, and since the front office isn’t volunteering, the Phanatic will have to do for now.
The good news is a lot of this roster is about to change whether anyone gets arrested or not. Bryce Harper said Friday he expects the team to look a lot different next year, and seven players are headed to free agency.
Alec Bohm, Luis Arraez, Adolis GarcÃa, Edmundo Sosa, José Alvarado, Brooks Raley and Tim Mayza. Bohm, Sosa and Alvarado are all free agents, so a big chunk of guys, who some of which spent a lot of time in Philly already, could be walking out the door this winter.
A mugshot of the Phanatic would go incredibly hard, btw…
