Jaylen Brown Jayson Tatum Lamb Chop

Jaylen Brown says there’s no beef with Jayson Tatum, just “lamb chops and some gravy”

The Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum saga just got a menu.

It all started when Tatum claimed he didn’t know Jaylen Brown was being traded to the Sixers, and Brown jumped into the Instagram comments to call cap on it. Tatum tried to put the fire out on Friday night, saying the two of them aren’t “fucking Shaq and Kobe” and that there’s no beef.

Jaylen Brown calls out Jayson Tatum for his fraudulent take on the Sixers trade >>

On Saturday, after the Sixers beat the Bucks 127-116 to move to 3-0, Brown got asked about it. He agreed there’s no beef. Then he kept going.

Jaylen Brown has no beef with Jayson Tatum

Jalyen Brown said he and Tatum accomplished great things together, called Tatum a hell of a basketball player and then made sure to mention that Tatum has a great PR team.

Then came the line of the week: there’s no beef, “but it might be a little lamb chops and some gravy.” He followed that up by saying Tatum “should stay ready at all times.”

When a reporter asked what that actually meant, Jaylen Brown doubled down. He said it’s just basketball, that it should never be beef, that they’re both blessed, and that it might just be a little lamb chop. He said they’ll be alright.

Then he was asked if he’d be willing to sit down and talk with Tatum. Brown said they both have a lot in front of them and have to do what’s best for their own teams. He called Tatum a great guy with a great family, a hell of a basketball player and, one more time, a hell of a PR team.

No beef. A little lamb chop.

The PR Team Line Is the Whole Story:

Jaylen Brown mentioning Tatum’s PR team once is a jab. Mentioning it twice is a statement. That was easily the best part of the whole thing, because it told you exactly what Brown thinks of Tatum’s “I didn’t know about the trade” story without him ever having to say it.

Can We Move On Now?

Here’s the truth.

I don’t care about Jayson Tatum, and I don’t care whether he and Jaylen Brown are buddies. It’s pretty obvious they aren’t, no matter how many times either one says “no beef,” and the media is going to milk this for as long as it can because it loves the drama.

What I do care about is that Brown is playing great basketball for a Sixers team that’s 3-0. Let the lamb chops simmer, let Tatum’s PR team do its thing and let’s get back to talking about the Sixers.
