WATCH: Giants shortstop airmails routine grounder into the Phillies dugout a night after third baseman Matt Chapman made his MLB-tying 6th error of the year
The Philadelphia Phillies won their fifth straight game last night against the San Francisco Giants on Sunday Night Baseball at Citizens Bank Park by a final score of 5-4.
With the Giants leading 1-0 in the bottom of the second inning at Citizens Bank Park, Alec Bohm stepped up to the plate to face starting pitcher Logan Webb.
Bohm hit a ground ball towards Giants shortstop Nick Ahmed for what should have been a routine ground out. It was anything but that, and Ahmed slipped and sailed the ball over into the home dugout, much to the joy of the sold out crowd at Citizens Bank Park.

Obviously Nick Ahmed’s left cleat got stuck in the dirt but it’s always funny to watch a two-time Gold Glove winner make such a ridiculous error.
Bohmer ended up on second base following the errant throw from Ahmed and scored four batters later on a broken-bat infield single from Edmundo Sosa.Â

On Saturday night, with the bases loaded and Phillies’ centerfielder Johan Rojas at the plate in the bottom of the sixth inning, Giants’ third baseman Matt Chapman made sixth error of the year on a routine grounder from Johan Rojas.
Somehow a ground ball that should have likely turned two to end the inning managed to go right between his legs and into left field, allowing two runs to score for the Phillies.

The San Francisco Giants are a dumpster fire this year, sitting in fourth place in the National League West at 15-20 on the season.
They are the first victim for the Philadelphia Phillies in what is a ‘cake walk’ schedule in the month of May. Tonight, they will look for the four-game series sweep of the Giants with Zack Wheeler on the mound.
Last night’s 5-4 win for the Phillies marked their ninth straight at Citizens Bank Park and their ninth in the last 10 games. On the season, the Phillies are in first place in the National League East with a 2.5 game lead over the Atlanta Braves in second.
