Flyers Extend Win Streak to 9 games behind Carter Hart & Claude Giroux

The Flyers beat the Sabres last night in South Philly thanks to tremendous performances from Carter Hart & Claude Giroux.
The Flyers extend their win streak to 9-games and are now tied with the Washington Capitals for 1st place in the Metropolitan Division. The current win streak is the Flyers longest since 2016, when it won 10 in a row.
Claude Giroux led the way with 2 goals for the orange & black. The first one coming on a beautiful backhander:

The Sabres did tie the game and we went into the 3rd period knotted 1-1 before Giroux and Farabee both scored to lock in the 9th straight victory.

Carter Hart was a brick wall. Hart saved 37 of 38 shots throughout the game and single handedly kept the Flyers in the game until they were able to get things moving in the 3rd. It was a historical night for the 21 year old goalie.
Carter Hart is the first goaltender in NHL history to record multiple win streaks of seven or more games at age 21 or younger. On a current 7-game win streak, Hart is now 20-2-2 at home this year. pic.twitter.com/xaOiCMYFhX

Hart has won 7 games in a row. He’s 20-2-2 at home and has allowed 2 or fewer goals in 20 of those 24 games. Any team coming into South Philly during the playoffs should be absolutely terrified. Not bad for a kid who entered the league with only 31 NHL games under his belt.
The big test comes this week as the Flyers play Boston Tuesday night at home and then hit the road to face the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Bruins and Lightning are the top two teams in the NHL. It will be a huge boost in confidence if the Flyers can stay hot against the NHL elite.
The last time Boston was in Philly – the Flyers won in a shootout after this dope missed the puck.
Lol Brad Marchand.

See you Tuesday night at the barn.
