Preview: Bruins at Flyers

The Flyers have another huge test tonight when the Bruins come to South Philly. Both of these Eastern Conference teams have had tremendous success this year. With that being said, the Bruins currently lead the league with 98 points and are still 9 points ahead of the Flyers, which is crazy to think about after all the recent success we’ve had.
HOWEVER. The Flyers have matched up well in recent history against the Bruins; winning their last four meetings. Everyone remembers the last time Boston came down to Gritty’s house; the infamous “over-skate gate” with Brad Marchand forgetting to bring the puck with him on a shootout attempt. Although hilarious, Marchand will be fully motivated on silencing the crowd. He comes in on a 12 game point streak with 5 goals and 12 assists in that time.
Key to the Game:
We have got to put pressure on Boston’s defense. Getting pucks in deep, and developing a good Forecheck. The Bruins will be without two key defensemen, Torey Krug and Brandon Carlo. Both of these guys made up Boston’s 2nd defensive pairing who have helped out tremendously this season, we have to take advantage of them being banged up.
Player to Watch:
Jakub Voracek. We’ve seen Voracek both surge and struggle in his career as a Flyer. This year, Jakey is 1st on the team in assists, 3rd in +/-, and also 3rd in points. This year he seems to be setting up his teammates to score more than ever before. Look for him to come up on the stat sheet for some key goals tonight.
