17 cities are bidding for spots at the World cup but only 10 are getting accepted. Here’s an official statement from members of Philadelphia Soccer 2026 following the presentation of their bid.
In 2026, the FIFA World Cup™ comes to the U.S for 30 days of raucous cheers, joyful chants, and elite competition. 17 cities are bidding for the privilege to host matches but only 10 will be chosen. From political conventions to Pope Francis to the NFL Draft, Philadelphia knows how to shine on the biggest stages under the brightest lights. But it’s our passion, intensity, and devotion to sports – our love of the game, whatever the game is – which sets us apart. Join our growing team to show FIFA that Philadelphia is ready for this moment.
Lincoln Financial Field, home of the Philadelphia Eagles is where games would take place. The Linc is a historic venue that hosts over 69,000 people and has previously hosted:
- CONCACAF Gold Cup
- Copa America Centenario
- FIFA Women’s World Cup™
- USWNT Victory Tour
- USMNT, USWNT and International Friendlies
Philadelphia would be a great location for 2026 World Cup Matches as we have seen other huge events succeed here.
- 2019 USWNT Victory Tour
- 2018 Eagles Super Bowl Parade
- 2017 NFL Draft
- 2016 Copa America Centenario
- 2016 DNC, 2000 RNC
- 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup Finals
- 2015 Papal Visit & World Meeting of Families
Philadelphia is also known for its strong passion for sports and soccer is one of them. Every year there are consistent crowds for international or national matches that take place. We have seen the support the local MLS team, the Philadelphia Union get at every home game. There is no doubt in my mind that Philadelphia would be a great location for the 2026 World Cup and hopefully, their bid is accepted.
