Flyers vs. Canadiens Game 5 Preview; could clinch first series win since 2012

Well folks, here we are. After two low scoring shutouts on the back of Carter Hart, the Flyers have a chance to finish the Montreal Canadiens tonight.

Eight Years
With another win over the Canadiens the Flyers will win their first playoff series since 2012; against the Penguins. In a way this has always been the benchmark, I mean over the years we’ve made the playoffs as an eight-seed but haven’t seriously competed.
Going into this season the feeling from the fanbase was while we definitely would be happy with just seeing playoff hockey, this market is starving for a series win. Tonight, this core could finally slay the dragon.

Powerplay
The powerplay has been the obvious weakness in this team for what feels like the entire season. It’s always been a head-scratcher given the personnel and talent the Flyers have out there. The playoff powerplay statistics are:
1-for-28 / 3.6% success rate
This is just an eyesore of a number and this problem needs to get fixed quick. If you want to go far in the playoffs, your special teams need to be effective. I’m interested to see if Vigneault/Therrien make any changes for Game 5.
Lineup Changes
Montreal’s lineup for Game 4 was the same as the game prior, and since we don’t receive lineup news until puck drop (especially on a back to back), we can only assume it will remain the same.
The only changes I could see the Flyers making is swapping out Farabee and Bunnaman for JVR and NAK (could be injured; no update). Safe to assume Hart gets the nod for this one.
It’s an exciting time to be a hockey fan in Philadelphia, something we’ve waited to say for a long time. So enjoy this, may the beers flow and let’s end this thing.

Finish them.
