Report: Sixers Head Coaching Job is Doc Rivers to Turn Down

The Philadelphia 76ers process of finding a new head coach could be nearly finished. The Sixers higher ups including Elton Brand, Josh Harris, and David Blitzer met with Doc Rivers Wednesday night.
Before the Rivers news shocked the NBA world, Philadelphia’s top candidates for the job were Ty Lue and Mike D’Antoni. Many believe Lue could just end up being Rivers replacement in Los Angeles. As for D’Antoni; it was once rumored that the Sixers job was his to lose.
But that was before Doc Rivers was a free agent. And as you can see, he is clearly the popular hire.
Rivers has a 943-681 regular-season coaching record. Another intriguing aspect of Rivers in Philly is his connection with players and star players more specifically. Rivers has coached the likes of Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Chris Paul, and Kawhi Leonard to name a few.
One thing to note as well, Tobias Harris had the best statistical season of his career under Doc Rivers. Tobias in 55 games for the Clippers in 2018: averaged a career-high 20.9 PPG on 49.6% from the field and 43.4% from deep.
Only time will tell, but it appears that the Sixers could have a decision coming this week. Stay tuned!
