76ers Hire Doc Rivers

The 76ers finally hired their new head coach. After meeting with Sixers brass yesterday, Doc Rivers has agreed to be the new head coach. Rivers, 58 was let go from the Clippers Head Coach position after a blown 3-1 lead against the Denver Nuggets in the Semi-Finals.
Rivers beat out Mike D’Antoni for the position and looks to bring a championship pedigree to the 76ers. Rivers was the coach of the 2008 Boston Celtics that won a NBA Finals and appeared in the 2010 finals before losing to the Los Angeles Lakers.
While Rivers has had some disappointments in early playoff exits and numerous blown leads, he is able to control a locker room and has several years of experience. He has spoken highly of Embiid and Simmons in the past and could help elevate Harris’ game and maybe recruit players to come to Philadelphia.
Rivers also has a relationship with potential trade target Chris Paul and it seems he will likely have a say in front office decisions. Rivers will be the 25th head coach in franchise history for the Sixers.
