The Eagles Secret Weapon at Running Back

Right now the running back room is looking pretty empty in Philadelphia. Yesterday, news broke that the Eagles would be without Miles Sanders and other key offensive weapons for Thursday Night Football.
While Boston Scott and Corey Clement are ready to lead the charge, there’s another weapon on the Eagles roster that could be used if things get real ugly in the backfield over the next few weeks.
Picture This:
It’s 3rd and Short. The Eagles are on the goal line and are mounting yet another late game comeback. Instead of calling on an undersized Boston Scott or Corey Clement, the Eagles slide Jordan Mailata out there at running back or fullback. Think a 1980’s, William Perry style role for the touchdown.
Yeah I know it sounds crazy, but have you seen his rugby film?
Mailata is a truck and is consistently running with 3 grown men on his back at any given moment. He is still around that size so he has not gotten out of condition or gained too much weight to carry the ball like that. In this Mailata doesn’t even have pads on. Imagine the damage he can do as a running back in short yardage situations.
Let me ask you this. If you’re an NFL Corner and see this 6 foot 8 man running in open field, do you want to tackle him? Mailata has been absolutely incredible these last few weeks at Left Tackle and is making a very strong case for the starting position going forward over Andre Dillard.
Mailata has shown his strength multiple times this season. This past week Jordan clobbered a Raven after a fumble and shoved him into the shadow realm after.
This concept might seem outlandish but you take one look at his Rugby tapes and you realize the threat is indeed legitimate.
