76ers finalize roster ahead of season opener

According to reports, the 76ers have waived wing Justin Anderson and guard Frank Mason following their preseason finale against the Indiana Pacers yesterday. Mason was expected to be waived after signing his Exhibit-10 contract which allows the 76ers to retain his G-League rights. Mason will now head to Delaware with Paul Reed and Dakota Mathias.
Justin Anderson seems to have lost the final roster spot battle to big man Vincent Poirier. Poirier looked impressive against the Celtics the other night defensively. Philadelphia will now run with four centers on the roster going into the season. Before Philadelphia, Anderson played with the Brooklyn Nets in the NBA Bubble.
Anderson looked okay during his preseason games but only tallied 14 minutes between both preseason games with a total of two points. Hopefully Justin can land on his feet but it showed that he didn’t fit in Philadelphia currently.
These moves cut the 76ers roster down to 15 players alongside their 2 two-way contracts ahead of Wednesday’s season opener against the Washington Wizards. The rotation doesn’t look to be set in stone yet but a rough outline has begun to be formed. Be sure to stay tuned to The Liberty Line for all of your 76ers updates.
