Eagles Quietly Bring in John Dorsey As A Consultant

Mike Garafolo of NFL Network has revealed this morning that this season the Eagles have quietly brought in former Chiefs and Browns GM John Dorsey.
Dorsey’s History
Dorsey is recently known for constructing the current Cleveland Browns roster with some big names. One of his first moves was drafting quarterback Baker Mayfield first overall in the 2018 NFL Draft. He went on to surround Baker with talent as he traded for Jarvis Landry and Odell Bechkam Jr. The 2018 draft was huge for Dorsey and the Browns, as they also drafted corner Denzel Ward with the fourth pick and running back Nick Chubb in the second round. Dorsey is also known for drafting Patrick Mahomes with Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs.
However, in his final season with the Browns, Dorsey was involved in a very toxic environment. Rashard Higgins and David Njoku were left on the bench while Antonio Callaway, was given consistent snaps. It was clear Callaway was not ready to play, along with his off the field issues. Multiple failed drug tests finally forced Dorsey to release Callaway. Dorsey was clearly playing favorites and all of this lead to his firing in 2019.
What Does This Mean for the Eagles?
Well, I wouldn’t expect Dorsey to be named the GM of the Eagles anytime soon, as it was reported this week that Jeffery Lurie hasn’t even thought about firing Howie Roseman. If Dorsey isn’t hired by any other teams interested, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Eagles kept him around. I think a role like this for Dorsey would be perfect, as he could help with drafting, an area that the Eagles have struggled with the past few years. He is “well respected” in the building, so it’s definitely something to keep an eye on.
