John Dorsey to leave Philadelphia for a Detroit Lions Front Office Role

The Detroit Lions are expected to add former Kansas City Chiefs and Cleveland Browns General Manager John Dorsey as a senior personnel executive. Dorsey has been quietly serving as a consultant for the Philadelphia Eagles over the past season.
According to reports, this is a move that has been in the works for a few weeks now and it makes sense given the fact that the Lions are entering next season with a new GM in Brad Holmes. Although the deal is not yet finalized, it’s expected to be this week.
Dorsey is recently known for constructing the current Cleveland Browns roster with some big names. One of his first moves was drafting quarterback Baker Mayfield first overall in the 2018 NFL Draft. He went on to surround Baker with talent as he traded for Jarvis Landry and Odell Bechkam Jr. The 2018 draft was huge for Dorsey and the Browns, as they also drafted corner Denzel Ward with the fourth pick and running back Nick Chubb in the second round. Dorsey is also known for drafting Patrick Mahomes with Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs.
A lot of people hoped that he would be taking the place of Howie Roseman in Philadelphia, but clearly that’s not happening now. With all the turnover happening with the Eagles this offseason, it’s remarkable that Howie Roseman still has a job in the front office.
