Eagles playoff hopes are on the line today vs the Dallas Cowboys

The Jalen Hurts led Philadelphia Eagles will face the Dallas Cowboys today hoping to keep their playoff hopes alive for another week. Today marks Jalen Hurts first start at quarterback against the hated Dallas Cowboys. Good news for Hurts, this is a game where he will be traveling to his home state of Texas and more specifically, AT&T Stadium, where he led the Oklahoma Sooners to the Big 12 Championship and a College Football Playoff appearance last year.
Hurts has impressed everyone over the last few weeks, totaling over 500 passing yards and 150 rushing yards in his first two starts – the first NFL quarterback to ever do so in league history. This will be the biggest start of Hurts’ young career to date, as the loser between the Eagles (4-9-1) and Cowboys (5-9) will be eliminated from playoff contention.
Here’s how the Eagles can force a Win & In Week 17 game against the Washington Football Team.
- Panthers beat Washington
- Ravens beat the Giants (Ravens currently winning 27-6 in the 4th)
- Eagles beat Dallas
Eagles Rushing Attack vs the Cowboys Defense
The Cowboys have the worst run defense in the entire NFL. The Eagles will look to expose them on the ground with Jalen Hurts and Miles Sanders. Last week, Hurts ran for 63 yards on the ground, Miles Sanders added 64 yards. The previous week, both Hurts and Sanders rushed for over 100 yards. Sticking to the run game today will be huge for the Eagles if they want to take advantage of a weak and injured Dallas defensive line.
Turnovers vs Cowboys Defense
The Cowboys have turned over opposing quarterbacks seven times in the last two games. They had a total of 11 takeaways in their first 12 games (four of which came vs the Eagles). Since Jalen Hurts took over under center for the Eagles, Philadelphia has turned the ball over just once. Hurts has not been intercepted since being named the starting quarterback. With one fumble in 198 snaps, Hurts has the sixth-lowest turnover rate among 46 quarterbacks with 100 snaps this season.
Sounds cliche, but if the Eagles don’t turn the ball over then there’s a great chance they win this game.
Eagles Passing Attack vs Cowboys Defense
Hurts torched the Arizona Cardinals last week through the air with 338 yards passing and three touchdowns. This week, he will have a new weapon to add to his arsenal with DeSean Jackson returning from injury. After the NFL Draft, Jackson and Hurts worked out together in Florida preparing for the season so hopefully there’s already some chemistry between the two heading into today’s game.
Jalen Reagor looks to continue to build on his rookie campaign after catching five balls for 49 yards last week vs the Cardinals. Reagor and Hurts have been building chemistry and honestly, it’s only a matter of time before Reagor has a breakout game.
Fellow rookie Quez Watkins was a strong contributor last week catching three balls for 40 yards and a touchdown. Watkins is lightning fast and proved to be a valuable piece to the wide receiver screen game last week.
Other Notes
The Dallas Cowboys are 0-4 ATS this season.

Prediction
Love the Eagles -3.5 and the over. They should be able to run all over the Dallas Cowboys and utilize the speed of Watkins and Reagor to torch the Cowboy’s defense. Eagles win 31-20.
