Joel Embiid to miss both games this weekend with knee injury

Following a quiet performance against the Miami Heat last night, Joel Embiid will get some much needed rest over the next two games. Embiid will not be flying with the Sixers on their back to back against the Memphis Grizzlies and Oklahoma City Thunder this weekend. He is listed with right-knee pain and is not believed to be serious and just a precautionary measure.
On Tuesday, Embiid led the Sixers with a dominant 45 points and 16 rebounds with a career-high five steals during their overtime victory against the Heat. In the second half of their series, Embiid only had nine points and five rebounds in 24 minutes of play in their 125-108 win last night.
Embiid will miss his third and fourth game this season. Joel sat out the second game of a back to back against the Cavaliers and was out due to COVID-19 protocols against Denver.
The 76ers should be all right without Embiid this stretch. Dwight Howard will match up against Grizzlies center Jonas Valančiūnas on Saturday. The Grizzlies are without standout big Jaren Jackson Jr. to start this season but have Brandon Clarke available. On Sunday, the Sixers will face former teammate Al Horford and the OKC Thunder. Horford has had another regression this season, posting near career-lows across the board while starting.
Alongside Embiid, Philadelphia will be without Seth Curry and likely Furkan Korkmaz. Korkmaz has been dealing with an adductor strain. The Sixers tip-off at 8:00 tomorrow night in Memphis.
