Eagles hire Kevin Patullo as passing game coordinator

The Philadelphia Eagles are slowly becoming the Philadelphia Colts. Almost immediately following the news that Colts defensive backs coach Jonathan Gannon was hired to be defensive coordinator, another coach is on the way. According to reports, Kevin Patullo will be joining Nick Sirianni as his passing game coordinator.

Patullo was the pass game specialist for the Colts in 2020. Previously Kevin was their wide receiver coach for two seasons. The 39-year-old has been a coach in both the NFL and college since 2006. The New York Jets hired Patullo to be their quarterbacks coach in 2015 for two seasons.

Sirianni is quickly assembling his offensive staff. Several names have already been reported as candidates for the offensive coordinator position. The first two names are Shane Steichen and Curtis Modkins. No mention yet if Duce Staley will be a candidate for the position.

Modkins is the running backs coach for the Denver Broncos and has been an NFL coach for 13 seasons. Buffalo hired Modkins to be their OC back in 2010 until 2012. He was recently the offensive coordinator for one season under Chip Kelly and the 49ers in 2016. When Curtis was with the 49ers, they were a top-three rushing team in the league.

Shane Steichen is another young coaching possibility for the Eagles. Steichen was the Chargers offensive coordinator the last year and a half after being promoted from quarterbacks coach, a position he held from 2016-2019. The 35-year-old had extreme success with Justin Herbert this season and can maybe replicate that same magic with Carson Wentz.
