Ben Simmons selected to third straight All-Star Game

According to Shams Charania, Ben Simmons will be making his third NBA All-Star game this season. Simmons will join teammate Joel Embiid and head coach Doc Rivers down in Atlanta in two weeks. No other Sixers were announced as reserves, with Tobias Harris missing the cut.

Despite a difficult first half of the season, Ben has been on a tear the last few weeks. After a slow start offensively, he found his groove averaging over 25 points over his previous five games. Defensively, Simmons is almost a lock to make the All-Defense team once again, shutting down nearly every opposing guard.

Over the 2020-2021 season, Simmons has averaged:

  • 15.7 points
  • 8.3 rebounds
  • 7.9 assists
  • 1.7 steals

Hopefully, Ben can keep up his aggressiveness on offense. He has been driving beautifully, and it came to a head when he scored a career-high 42 points against the Utah Jazz last week. This new pace on offense has helped open up more passing lanes to shooters on the perimeter for Philly.

Tobias Harris was a notable snub from this years All-Star game. Through 28 games this season, Tobi is averaging 20.6 points and 7.8 rebounds on over 50% shooting. The other East reserves include James Harden, Julius Randle, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Zach Lavine, and Nikola Vucevic. This selection will be Simmonsโ€™ third straight over his four year career.
